Creators of "My Strange Addiction" Casting for more Furries

20West TV, Creators of TLC’s “My Strange Addiction” is again casting for Furries.

Do you wish you were an animal? Are you more comfortable wearing a fursuit, acting like a dog, or getting tattoos to look like a lizard? If you have altered your appearance to look like an animal, exhibit transhuman behavior, or participate in furry fandom, we want to hear from you.

A reality TV production company is casting for people who have gone to extreme measures to create an alternate identity to appear in an upcoming series. This non-exploitative program will share compelling personal stories. Each half-hour episode will profile two individuals who feel more comfortable living out animal-based fantasies or personas – including dogs, foxes, and lizards or even vampires and werewolves.

To be considered, or for more information about this production, please send your name, age, city, and a current photo to info@20west.tv. Please provide a brief description of your animal tendencies and behaviors and how it has impacted your life.

The ad was seen on Craigslist San Fransisco here.

Thanks to Tenza Aohane (@the10za) for the heads up!

Edit:  Looking at the description listed, this may be a show highlighting Furries, Weres, Vampires and transhumanists.  Looking at the shows they currently have in production, this would be something new.  What worries me is the term “non-exploitative” being used in the text.

Please posts opinions, rants and the like below.

  2. It’s a horrible idea. If you don’t think you won’t get exploited for ratings on that show, you’re an idiot.

I dunno, it might be interesting to watch, but not to actually participate in. If I recall the My Strange Addiction fiasco, they twisted the poor girl’s words.

I’d be skeptical about it, but if someone really wants to let it all out, I won’t stop them.

Wager 20 bucks that at Least 1 babyfur or worse plushiphile thinks it’ll be a good idea to go on that show.. Or worse yet a fursuit sexsuit wearer….

  6. I don’t think it’s that bad if folks want to go on and make a name for themselves by showing the off side of themselves. Though i’m slightly irked they do this to pinpoint the furry crowd. Probably as a result of that show doing okay in ratings and wanting to play off it.

I wont be on it, furry is a subset of my life and not something that rules my life. Don’t get me wrong though it’s surely something I’m proud of and greatly enjoy. Heck I’ll watch it if I can to see what happens.

  9. It’s really disgusting they’re doing this again. I guess they got better ratings for the Lauren episode and thought “let’s put another furry on the show!” Interesting to note 20 West Productions is located in Chicago, yet they are advertising for a fur in kink city – San Fransisco. Anyone who appears on this show is going to wind up another Chewfox.

Good lord, not again. I wonder how furry will be linked to some psychological problem this time.

The first round we had a girl who was basically being told that she qas using furry as a means to not hide away from the world. Not to mention her mother thought the girl was addicited to the fandom.

This just keeps getting better an better. So who’s gonna be the next unlucky sap to fall into the pit. When they do they need to say that they do not speak for the fandom as a whole, they only speak for themselves and no one else.

    • I doubt many people know to look for ads on the 20West website…but millions of people a day regularly go through Craigslist. In this case it was posted under the community & groups forums.

Could have been worse… Could have been in the adult personals section.

  12. I want to see where this is heading.
If it REALLY is non-exploitable and not retarded, then I’d enjoy it, but if it’s just another show trying to profit from the crazy people, then fuck it. It’s sick, and just plain unfair, because they have the control of the outcome. =

Hi, I’m not in the Furry community, but was searching for more information about Lauren. I saw the episode and didn’t think she belonged on there. If the show was trying to portray wearing fur suits as a damaging ‘strange addiction’, they failed – at least to anyone paying close attention. There are people on that show who eat detergent and glass – not in the same ball park. Perhaps they are looking to cast furries that they can portray as having more of a problem this time.
Lauren’s suits looked great to me, although I might not be able to recognize a quality fur suit. I know not many people can sew like that and love it so much. It’s a shame her family isn’t more supportive – I think she should go into business making custom fur suits, and tell them all to get over it.
